So on tuesday, college took us on a camping trip... on a goat farm.
obviously the first thing i did as soon as i got there was laugh at how ridiculous the goats were. once i had had a little giggle at 'em, we were instructed to go and claim a yurt.
THEY. WERE. AMAZING. (i'm seriously considering building a cupboard that i can sleep in)
I had quite a few plans work-wise for once it went dark, but during the day I went over to the river to take some long exposure images, and I also went to see the goats again and snapped some shots at them.
Unfortunately, once it became dark my night time plan didn't turn out quite as i expected. i wanted to do some star trails you see. but, to do star trails, you need a clear sky. the sky was not clear and you could not see a single bloody star.
I retired to the yurt to get some comfy clothes on and hope for the clouds to clear whilst i head down to the barn to watch this awesome dude called the pictish trail!

he was seriously funny, and has a seriously beautiful voice! i enjoyed it loads.

unfortunately i didn't actually take any pictures of him but there was a big projector behind him playing some of any warhols screen tests.

comfy and ready for bed!

Edit:

since i couldn't actually do any star trails at dolphinholme, i had a bash of doing them once i got home.

Here is a basic tutorial on how to do them.

I placed my camera on a tripod with an interesting foreground subject in view. then took about 50 30 second long exposures with a torch shining on the foreground subject, once i had all the images i then stacked them using post processing software.

i'm not that happy with the final outcome as the stars are very staggered. this is because i didn't take enough pictures, next time i will aim to take about 200.
